Want to discover the magic, music and culture of Colombia? Welcome to Colombia. An IAESTE traineeship is not just about gaining practical experience in real work environments, it is also about learning and enjoying a new culture, and this is where our LC can help you. Colombia will never cease to surprise you!
Do not waste your time thinking about the answer, you do not have to decide, both of them are available. You can sunbathe or enjoy a variety of water sports like scuba diving, skiing… in one of our two seaboards: The Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean. On the north and western side of the country, you can feel the fresh air, in our natural spaces while enjoying the wonderful mountains that surrounds us.
Colombia is also a diverse and rich country in culture; we enjoy 18 long weekends every year with an incredible number of holiday Mondays offering our Trainees the chance to travel, party and celebrate. And of course, nightlife is a must with our beating salsa, spicy cumbia and our romantic vallenato.
Accommodation
Except those offers in which the employer provides lodging, IAESTE trainees in Colombia are usually to be lodged in shared flats with other students. As a rule of thumb, most trainees working within 30km of any regional capital city will live in it, where the IAESTE Local Committees are located.
We look for (typically single) rooms to rent in student flats who go home for the summer. We require owners to allow full use of bathroom and kitchen, but that’s about all. We try our hardest to search for rents under 250 euros a month, but is is not always possible (in the summer there’s the added pressure of massive tourism).
Arrival
At your arrival there’ll be an IAESTE member to pick you up at a main airport/station. We strongly recommend you to send an email to our National Committee stating:
- IAESTE reference number CO-2020-UIB063
- Date and time of your arrival
- Flight number and airport information
- Your mobile phone number
So we can contact your employer and state the right information on your arrival date and time.
Since some days we don’t have enough resources to attend all arrivals, on that case we as National Committee will send you all the information about your lodging location and detailed instructions to get there.
